Term 4, Week 6

Hello everyone and welcome to week 6! I can't believe there is only a month left! Crazy!

Our Character Strength of the Week...Bravery.
A perfect segue into this particular strength, so many of of our soldiers, past and present show bravery in many ways.

WHAT IS BRAVERY?

To be brave is to face your challenges, threats, or difficulties. It involves valuing a goal or conviction and acting upon it, whether popular or not.

A central element involves facing – rather than avoiding – fears.

This can be:

  • Physical bravery - requiring us to do something physically challenging like running a race or getting a spider out of the bathroom.
  • Psychological bravery - working on owning all the parts of ourselves and accepting them as a valuable part of who we are.
  • Moral bravery - standing up for what is right, even if it isn't a popular opinion or others don't.
Technologies Monday:
Please check in with your child to make sure they have gathered and packed their tower items ready for tomorrow afternoon's session.

The students will be given time to sort themselves ready to create their tower within the 15 minute time frame!

They will need to bring in any kind of fixings, tape, glue etc. if you can please make sure they have communicated with their partner about what is required.

Vinnies Hamper Appeal:
Each year at OLC we take time to be thankful for our blessings and to assist those local people in need by contributing to Christmas Hampers distributed by the St Vincent De Paul Society.

This year boxes will be in the shared work areas of the school and families are invited to contribute specified items.

Please look out for the labelled boxes in the following areas in the next few weeks and give generously to support others in what can be a difficult time of the year.

Years 1, 2 & 3: Pasta sauces, meal kits, rice, biscuits, crackers, sauces, jams, condiments, (basically any non-perishable good food, which can be used beyond Christmas. No baked beans or tinned vegetables please 🙂)

Thank you for helping to make someone’s Christmas a little more special this year!

Christmas Concert Preparations:
As you would have read in the newsletter, preparations are well underway for our end of year concert which will be held on Wednesday 29th November beginning at 5.30pm.
Year 3 students are being asked to dress as traditional townspeople - Mrs King included some images in the newsletter for those needing some inspiration!

K-2 Dance Concert:
A reminder that this super fun event is on this Friday, 17th November, our whole school turns out to support out younger students as they bust a move under Mrs Haines' excellent guidance.
All parents are warmly invited to attend, we will be handing out merit awards at the conclusion of the concert!
